Rescuing Beyond Boundaries: The Story Behind Retter
We’ve never shared the inspiration behind our name, have we? While it’s true that Retter is easy to pronounce in any language and reads the same forward and backward, there’s actually a deeper philosophy behind it.
In 2003, the German football club St. Pauli faced a severe financial crisis that threatened its very existence. The club launched a creative campaign, selling T-shirts emblazoned with the word “Retter” (rescuer). The initiative was a huge success, with over 140,000 T-shirts sold, providing the much-needed funds to save the club.
One of those T-shirts made its way to Baran Baygan, who, while not a football enthusiast, was struck by the power of the story—a testament to community, collaboration, and resilience. Years later, when naming his new company, he drew inspiration from this campaign. The name “Retter” encapsulated the spirit of helping others move forward, overcoming challenges together, and supporting growth.
Since our establishment in 2014, Retter has been quietly helping businesses break free from rigid, slow-moving solutions, enabling them to build flexible and innovative systems. Especially during the pandemic, we’ve grown alongside our clients, fostering long-term relationships and contributing to their success.
At Retter, we aim to be a partner in progress—a name with a story, a philosophy, and a purpose.
